At Family Fundamentals, we specialise in financial coaching for women and children impacted by domestic violence and post-separation abuse. While we do not provide safety services, we focus on the financial aspects of leaving abuse and rebuilding lives.

Many domestic violence crisis services also provide financial assistance to support safe exits from abusive homes. Family Fundamentals complements these services by focusing on long-term financial stability.
Our Approach
We provide trauma-informed financial support through separation and divorce, including:
- Guidance on accessing free supports and financial resources
- Coaching to navigate asset division and financial independence
- Strategies to minimise financial stress for children during separation
- Support for women from multicultural backgrounds with limited literacy or numeracy
Our principal consultant, Judy, brings lived experience of navigating separation from a high-conflict relationship involving domestic violence and post-separation abuse. She has successfully self-advocated through family law processes to secure a stable financial future for herself and her child. Judy understands the complexities of:
- Post-separation abuse and coercive control
- Asset division in high-conflict family law cases
- Navigating bureaucratic and government systems
She uses her personal and professional expertise to guide clients through the financial challenges of leaving an abusive relationship, helping them establish security and independence.

Trauma-Informed Expertise
Judy’s extensive experience includes:

- Understanding the impact of mental health, religious, and cultural manipulation by abusers
- Offering insights into the healing journey after chronic abuse, including emotional, psychological, and financial recovery
Her goal is to help women achieve financial independence while minimising stress for their children and maximising long-term security.
